Beating of Drums

Thundering through the clouds and into the sky, the beating of drums takes you to a journey of visual and hearing sensation.

In Taiwan, temple festivals always draw thousands of people from near and far together to worship gods and pray for peacefulness, health and fortune. Drumming is an integral part of the festivals, sometimes performed together with lion dance, and dragon dance. The power of the rhythm of beating and the waves of sound boil up people from the inside out, and make them more humble in front of the heavenly gods.

In the early days, drums in different shapes and sizes were also used to boost the soldiers' morale in the battle fields, as usually seen across the world.

The beating of drums has become a performing art in Taiwan . We took the inspiration and established the drumming team to recreate the art of drumming. With variation of rhythm, tempo, strength, and applying different beating tactics and techniques, the drummers perform the drumming, incorporating kung-fu postures and bold shouts, to more intensify the power of drums.

The drumming team is a new addition to the program of the workshop, but it will quickly become a main attraction as an exciting introductory piece to draw the audience's attention in a performance.
