Chinese Folk Dance

Most people in everyday life use sound to communicate to others, but on stage a dancer uses their limbs and body to do their communicating.  Just like the Chinese language, Chinese dance has its own unique vocabulary, semantics, and syntactic structure that enables a dancer on stage to fully express his thoughts and feelings with ease and grace.  The art of Chinese dance traces its origins to even before the appearance of the first written Chinese characters.

The Chinese Folk Workshop currently consists of nine members who have been working together for many dances.  We have done many dances including ribbon dance, peacock dance, sword dance, Taiwanese aboriginal dance, and umbrella dance.
