Dragon Dance

The dragon dance requires an enormous amount of teamwork to make it flow and look good.  All the successful movements of the dragon depend on the cooperation of the entire team.  Each distinct performer must play his role well with good timing and in good combination with other team members' actions.  With a good team, the dragon is capable of flowing beautifully and performing complicated tricks that requires every member of the team.  The dragon is a accompanied by a drummer who sets the beat for the performance.

The Chinese Folk Workshop's dragon team is the best and only youth team in the New England area.  The team has been together for many years but became an organized team early this year.  We participate in the annual First Night Boston parade on New Year's Eve and are one of the highlights of the parade with our energetic, flowing style and complicated tricks.
